Google Maps for Android Gets New Design, Better Navigation

Google has updated Google Maps app for Android. This update brings several new features and new design. This new Google Maps was showcased back in I/O conference.

This app works on both smartphones and tablets. It has cleaner interface similar to iPhone version similar to December.

This new app comes with enhanced navigation that shows live traffic updates, incident reports along with traffic rerouting. Google Maps will also alert you if there is any problem in your route and will help you to reroute to your destination faster. It also pulls reviews from Google’s Zagat. Searching for a new place is now easier. Simply tap on search box and you will see cards showing places to eat, drink or shop. If you are looking for a restaurant near your place, you will be able to see its review on Maps.

This update is rolling out gradually and will support all Android devices running on Android 4.0.3 or above. It is now available on  Google Play and will be available soon in the App Store. Offline maps feature for Android is no longer available.
