Now Google.co.in/music is redirecting users to Google India search page. Other links are throwing 404 error page.  There is no official announcement about the service shut down. We have contacted Google India to get more details about the service.

Google Music India was launched in October 2010 and allow users to search for music tracks by artist, movie, album and song title to listen online. For this service, Google has partnered with Saregama, Web18 and Saavn. Users can search music across various popular music streaming and listen at one place.

In India, it seems that music search and streaming services are not performing well. In past, we have seen many services shutdown. Guruji also offered similar kind of Music service that was discontinued in March 2011. Few months back Flipkart has also discontinued its Flyte digital music store. Last year, Rediff had also shut down its online music service Songbuzz in December 2012.

In India, free music streaming services Dhingana, Saavan and Gaana.com are growing fast on web and mobile as well. These services are free with ad-supported. In front of these services, other big names are also under-performing.
