It seems that India is growing fast on Internet. With increasing number of subscribers in India, average Internet speed is also growing. According to the latest report by Akamai Technologies, India may see 40-50% increase in average Internet speed to reach up to 1.8-2 MBPS. Internet connection in India are also getting more robust, reliable and uplifting fast.
In the first quarter of 2013, India saw the average Internet speed of 1.3 mbps. While it was only 1 mbps in first quarter of 2012. Global Internet speed for the first quarter of 2013 was 3.1 mbps.
“Based on current industry growth trends, we expect a 40 per cent to 50 per cent increase in connection speed over the next 12 months. This translates to anything between 1.7 to 1.8 Mbps,” Bruno Goveas, Director of Products for Asia Pacific and Japan, Akamai Technologies said.
“Many users now get online via mobile phones. High speed data plans are very affordable with some innovative data plan offerings from service providers. Hence, we expect to see a rise is high speed connections,” he added.
In India, people are switching to smartphones with 3G connection. Corporate are also upgrading their bandwidth for better growth. And ofcourse, Internet is getting cheaper year by year. This also encourage normal Internet user to go for high speed plans.
Internet service providers are also upgrading their technology to offer high bandwidth Internet connection to home user.
Increasing demand for high-speed connection is the main reason for this Internet revolution in India.
