Avast Acquires Secure.me

Popular security solutions provider company Avast has acquired secure.me. Secure.me is a popular privacy company that helps users to keep their Facebook profile safe. It connects with your Facebook profile with Facebook connect and then scan profile for malicious links and apps.

“The acquisition reinforces AVAST’s position as a worldwide leader in security. By including secure.me’s cutting-edge social-privacy and security technologies in our own security offerings, we will be giving customers even greater confidence in their online experience, whether they are on a PC, tablet, or a mobile device,” said Avast CEO Vincent Steckler.

Avast did not disclose the amount it paid to secure.me for the deal. Company reveals that it will add secure.me’s Facebook security app in Avast’s App security  browser extension and mobile apps. We can see the integrated apps and extensions by the end of the year.

“We were always fans of the solutions and underlying technologies that secure.me has developed and brought to market,” Avast CTO Ondrej Vlcek said, “and now we’re working at light-speed to fully integrate them into both our free and premium offerings, so our couple hundred million users can get all of the great benefits these capabilities deliver.”

This deal will surely help Avast to improve its apps and make it better than other available security solutions. Now it will be interesting to see how other security solutions will respond to get something like this.
