Google has taken one more step in integration of Google+ in its product. Now Google Drive uses profile pictures of Google+ profile. When you open a file, it will show the profile picture of other viewers in place of Names. It will make it easy to see who is working on a document with us.

Google Drive Gets Profile Pics, Avatars and One Click Chat

“Now when you open a file in Drive, you’ll see the profile pictures of other viewers at the top instead of just their names, making it easy for you to do a quick scan of who else is in the file. You can hover over a photo to see details about the viewer and add them to your circles on Google+ — all without ever leaving Drive,” Eric Zhang, Software Engineer posted.

Profile picture option also works for viewers who are not logged in. They can use other funny avatars and names to show.

You can also start a group chat with a single click if you want to talk to other persons working on the same document. Simply click on chat icon at the top right and then start chat.

This feature is rolling out slowly and will be available to you in few days.

Both options make Google Drive work collaboration easier. You will be able to identify other person with profile pic and start group chat if you need any discussion.
