Facebook is testing emoticons in the status updates. These new emoticons allow users to share how they are feeling and what they are doing.

This feature has been rolled out for few selected profiles for testing purpose. Most of the persons compare this feature with old MySpace’s mood sharing option.

After getting this feature, you will see emoticon icon just below the update box. Clicking on this icon will lets you select what you are feeling, doing, listening, reading, watching or eating  Each options will move to a sub menu of emoticons. You can also add extra description along with the emoticons.

Facebook also said that information updated via this feature will also be available on your profile and this can be used in Graph search. While adding pages to show what you are watching, Facebook also suggest few pages. We can expect advertisements on these recommendations after the launch of the feature.

We already have emoticons in the comments, but have missed this for status updates. Mood sharing is a nice idea and is easier option to share how you are feeling. Many times people do not want to write longer updates on Facebook, so this can help them. I am sure this feature will be accepted by most of the users on Facebook.
