Facebook Adds Voice Messages in Messenger for iOS and Android, Tests Free VoIP In Canada

Today, Facebook has added voice messaging feature to its messenger app for iOS and Android devices. Now users can send short voice messages. The update will be rolled out in few hours.

After getting the updated app, users will see a new ‘Record’ option alongside photo and camera buttons. Hold this button to record a message. If you do not want to send the recorded message, you can simply cancel the message otherwise let it send.

Facebook messenger voice messages

These voice messages will be added as wave stream into conversations that also be listened from web interface. This feature works fine and voice messages are delivered quickly. it is also instantly available to web interface.

Facebook is also testing VoIP calling service. Currently this VoIP Calling is available to only Canadian users who can call each other for free over Wifi or data connection. Canadian users having latest version of Facebook Messenger for iOS can try this VoIP service to make a call. This new VoIP service is different from the company’s existing partnership with Skype which brought video chat to Facebook.

The update for the Messenger app is not available right now but it is expected to hit the app store soon. Just wait a little while and you will be able to download Facebook Messenger for iOS and Android devices.
