Today, Facebook has announced something that is also open to people not using Facebook. Now Facebook Messenger app for Android allows users to signup only with phone numbers. After signup, users will be able to start messaging with mobile contacts.

“Starting today, you can create a Messenger account with just your name and phone number, and start messaging your mobile contacts,” Facebook announced.

Facebook Messenger For Android Lets Users Sign Up with Phone Number.

But this feature is only available in limited countries including India, Australia, Indonesia, Venezuela, and South Africa.

This new feature will help Facebook to compete with third party mesage apps like WhatsApp. Facebook for Android is now no ad app and is available to download for free.

Yesterday, We also reported that Facebook is interested in WhatsApp and today a similar kind of app has been released by the company. We are confused what Facebook want to do. If Facebook will buy WhatsApp, I am sure it will operate independent and will never be integrated in Facebook. Because Facebook has made it already in Messenger.

Facebook will also release the similar kind of update for iOS users in next few days. But we are not sure when.
