Fake Windows 8 Key Generators and Activators Spoted Online

Last month, Microsoft has announced its latest Windows 8 operating system with lots of expectations. But Microsoft is not the only one who is expecting profit from Windows 8. Cyber criminals are also trying to execute their malicious tasks by using name of Windows 8.

Security company Trend Micro has published a report in which is shows few fake Windows 8 key generators and activator that are being spread online. These kind of softwares are infected with ADW_SOLIMBA and JOKE_ARCHSMS.

Fake Windows 8 Key Generators and Activators Spoted Online

“When executed, ADW_SOLIMBA displays a fake message informing users to click ‘OK’ to download Windows 8 via the web browser. On the other hand, JOKE_ARCHSMS purports as a Windows 8 activator. Similar to ADW_SOLIMBA, JOKE_ARCHSMS also displays images to trick users into thinking that they can activate Windows once they have sent an SMS to a certain number,” Trend Micro explained.

“The people behind these malware are hoping to ride on Windows 8′s popularity and some users’ eagerness to try out the software. And so far, using new programs, software, or apps as a social engineering lure has been an effective vehicle for attacks,” the security company added.

These newly found fake activator are only just examples. You will find so many scams online which claims to be activator. There are some survey scams and click frauds also available online which claims to give activation keys of Windows 8.

Trend Micro also advised all consumers not to go for these fake activator and buy only genuine product from Microsoft. We also advised all readers to use latest and updated Antivirus to protect your system from these kind of security threats.
