Computer peripheral manufacturer Kobian has launched another low-cost tablet called mTab7 in India. This is a 7 inch tablet that is available for Rs. 6,500 in India.

mTab7 is powered by a 1.2 GHz Cortex A8 processor with 512 MB RAM and runs on Android 4.0 ICS operating system at 800×480 pixel resolution. It features a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen display. The tablet weighs 300 grams and is 12 mm thick.

It also comes with a 0.3 megapixel front camera, bigger inbuilt speakers but no front camera. It is packed with a 2300 mAh battery which seems to be small as per tablet standards.

Sushmita Das, country manager, India, Kobian said, “The price sensitive Indian market is always looking for low cost, feature rich tablets and here we introduce one in the sub 7k range. The mTab7 brings joy of tablet at low cost .The ultra-thin and light weight features allows one to carry mTab7 easily anywhere and its sleek features allow it to comfortably land in your pockets.”

She further added, “We are not preloading with applications as we believe that the customer has a wide array of choices and they can download and access apps easily through the WiFi support.”

This tablet features Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity. 3G connectivity can only be done with dongle. It also has a HDMI port.

With these specification and price, this tablet will directly fight with Funbook and SmartTab. It will be interesting to see how this tablet will perform in the market.
