Indian Railway has launched Rail Radar. It is a live train tracking system that shows your train on Google Maps. This service, Rail Radar is available at http://railradar.trainenquiry.com/ and allows users to find out exact location of the train on the map.

This web service is purely developed on HTML5, so it can be accessed from any mobile phone having internet connectivity. However, the service does not have any dedicated app right now. But we can expect it soon.

Indian Railway Launches Rail Radar, Watch Train Live On Google Map

At first, when you open the website, it shows the map of India with a left side bar navigation. Click on search to search for the location of the train. It also contains a “+” and “-” buttons to zoom in and zoom out the map.

One thing i want to make clear that it does not show the GPS data. Train is mapped on the basis of the data received from the station. It means, we are not getting the live running status.

According to info added on the website, “Please be aware that the, location, and status of trains shown on the map are typically 5 and more mins delayed from the real time.”

This service is similar to the already available service called the ‘Spot Your Train which can be accessed from Indianrail.gov.in. But Rail Radar is much improved version of that. I do not know why this is created as a separate service. Indian railway could upgrade Spot your train with Rail Radar.

This service is also monetized with the ads that are placed at right and lower side of the page. It does not have pop up or pop under ads like Indianrail.gov.in which is much relief for users.
