According to analyst firm, Wireless Intelligence India’s Telecom company, Bharti Airtel is now the fourth largest mobile operator company of the world. It has more than 250 million connections globally.
China Mobile retained its top position with more than 683 million connections. Vodafone comes second with 386.88 million connections followed by America Movil Group with 251.83 million.
“India’s Bharti Airtel (#4) was the only other member of the top ten to move up the ranking, recording a 13 percent year-on-year rise in connections (to 250 million) and leapfrogging Telefónica to become the world’s fourth-largest operator group in Q2,” says the report.
Bharti Airtel was at the fifth spot for 2 years when it acquired Zain Group’s mobile operations across 15 African nations in June 2010. It has also announced $ 3.04 billion revenue in the second quarter of FY12.
Other Indian Mobile operators are also in the list. Reliance Communications, Idea Cellular and BSNL are at eighth, fourteenth and twentieth position, respectively.
