Facebook app for iPhone and iPad Gets Update

Facebook app for iPhone and iPad devices just got an update and now reached to version 5. This newer version of the app is completely rewritten in objective c. This new app is much faster than its older versions. It claims to respond twice as faster than previous version of app.

“We’ve rebuilt the app from the ground up, so now the app opens much faster and your news feed and notifications load right when you open Facebook,” Facebook Product Manager, Mick Johnson, wrote.

Now this app will load news feed quickly while scrolling down to see older stories. It also claims to load photos fast. Older version of the app took too much time to load apps.

According to the release notes, Facebook also made the following improvements:

  • Scrolling through news feed is faster than ever
  • New banner lets you tap to quickly see more stories – no need to refresh
  • Photos open fast and close with one downward swipe
  • Instant access to your notifications

Almost 500 million people use Facebook on mobile devices. But Facebook’s mobile platforms was got much criticism. Lat month Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg promised improvements to Facebook’s mobile apps.

This new app is now available in App stores. Interested users can update their app to get faster Facebook on their iOS devices.
