New Chrome Beta Comes With Video Calling Without Plugin

Google has announced the recent beta version of Google Chrome. This new version of Google Chrome beta comes with two new main features. Now it supports video calling without additional plugin and cloud based printing. Along with these features, it also supports gamepad support from connected devices.

For accessing camera and microphone without plugin, Google Chrome uses getUserMedia API which allows high-quality video and audio communication on the web.

“In today’s Chrome Beta release, it’s now possible for you to grant web apps access to your camera and microphone right within the browser, without a plug-in. This is thanks to the getUserMedia API, which is the first big step for WebRTC, a new real-time communications standard that aims to allow high-quality video and audio communication on the web,” Google announced in a blog post.

“The getUserMedia API also allows sites to create cool new experiences that weren’t previously possible in the browser. For example, Romuald Quantin and Magnus Dahlstrand at Stinkdigital have created a Magic Xylophone that you can play just by waving your hands in front of the camera,” it added.

This new Chrome beta also brings a new improved Google Cloud print. Your printer will be shown in the Chrome’s print dialog which allows users to print their Cloud Ready printer, Google Drive, Chrome on your mobile device, or one of over 1,800 FedEx Offices.

Google Chrome is now most popular web browser of the world. This new feature will surely increase its user base. Google Chrome is not the only browser which comes with built-in camera support. Few weeks back, Opera 12 was announced that also came with camera support.

Recently Google chrome has also announced support for advertisements within the extensions. This will allow extension developer to show ads and earn money. But these ads should not tamper with the functionality of the site being viewed. Developers cannot force users to click on ads.

To enjoy these new features, just download Chrome Beta.
