Micromax launches X259 Solar Phone for Rs. 2499

Micromax has launched X259 in India. This is the first Micromax phone that features charging from solar energy. This phone has solar cell at the back and it will get automatically gets charged through solar power when exposes to sunlight.

It has 2.4 inch QVGA display with 240 x 320 pixels resolution. It is a Dual SIM with dual standby.

The smartphone is especially targeted at rural areas where power cuts are high. In those areas, Solar charging will help users to charge their phone. It is a nice concept and for this price, it seems to be successful in India.

It has a VGA camera and memory is expandable upto 4 GB. Other features of this phone are Bluetooth, GPRS, FM radio, audio and video player. It is also packed with 1000 mAh battery which will give better battery backup for this featured phone.

“With the introduction of this our intent is to get rid of the mobile phone charger by including a solar panel on the device itself,”  Mr. Rahul Sharma, Co – Founder, Micromax said about the phone.

He stated that they have rolled out lots of categories into this bloodthirsty business – be it extended battery life handsets or double SIM handsets.
