Sony has now one more smartphone in its dual core smartphones range in India with its latest Sony Xperia U. This smartphone is now up for pre-order via online shopping websites Flipkart and Letsbuy and is tagged with the price of Rs. 16,499.
Sony Xperia U was unveiled at MWC 2012 along with Sony Xperia P. Sony Xperia U is powered by a NovaThor 1GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Company has also promised to push ICS upgrade in secod quaarter of 2012.
It has a a 3.5-inch Reality display with resolution of a 3.5-inch 480×854. It comes with 512MB of RAM and with 8GB of built-in storage but has no microSD card slot., It features a 5 mega pixel camera at the back with 720p HD video recording and a front VGA camera for video calling.
Other features of the device includes Sony’s xLOUD surround technology, stereo FM radio, GPS and A-GPS connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with DLNA and hotspot functionality, microUSB 2.0.
It is also packed with a 1,320 mAh battery which claims to give 260 hours of standby time, 6 hours and 36 minutes of talk-time, and 45 hours of music play.
The smartphone comes with nice features for the given price. But it has no option for memory expansion. This can be a drawback of the phone. Although it comes with 8 GB on board storage but only 4GB is available for user. Which is not enough as Indian users use smartphones for videos and songs and sometimes 4 GB is not enough.
