Samsung Is Now Top Mobile Phone Maker

Samsung Mobile PhonesAccording to new Report by mobile analytic firm Gartner, Samsung has overtaken Nokia and got the Number 1 position as most selling phone brand. Gartner says that four out of every ten Android smartphones comes from Samsung. It shows the popularity of Samsung mobiles.

Samsung has shipped 86.6 million mobile phone units this year, a 25.9 percent increase from last year sale. Samsung is far ahead from Nokia and Apple. Samsung has 40 percent share in Android market which no other manufacturer has 10 percent share. Android is currently installed on 56 percent of new smartphones, more than twice Apple’s share.

Nokia’s mobile handset sales reached 83.2 million units, a 22.7 percent decrease from the first quarter of 2011.

According to the report, Top 5 mobile phone manufacturers are Samsung, Nokia, Apple, ZTE and LG respectively. ZTE gas 4.2 percent share while LG now stands for 3.6 percent market share.

Another player like RIM (makers of BlackBerry), HTC and Motorola also lost their worldwide market share and now hold 2.4 percent (down from 3.0 percent), 1.8 percent (down from 2.2 percent) and 2.0 percent (down from 2.1 percent) market share respectively. Sony managed to hold on to its market share at 1.9 percent.

Android smartphones worked as a key player in Samsung’s  success and Samsung Galaxy was the most successful smartphone from the company. Nokia teamed up with Microsoft which did not help it and Lumia series was unable to fight with Samsung smartphones,

Samsung is likely to continue their dominance until the end of 2012 at least. It has announced Samsung Galaxy s3 which will surely boost Samsung’s sale.
