Fake Facebook Apps redirecting android users to malicious website

Security experts have found some fake Facebook dating apps that can be used for malicious operations. Actually these fake apps are duplicate apps of some popular dating apps.

Cyber criminals have made duplicate apps of “Lista de Verificación del Amante Ideal” and “Lista de Verificare pentru Iubit(a).” These facebook apps are desined in such a way that it scans your Facebook contacts and list all the potential girlfriends/boyfriends among your friends.

When these fake apps detect Android traffic, it redirects users to some random game hosted on Google Play store. Although these games are not potentially infected but there is a possibility of malicious redirection.

These fake apps only designed for Andrid visitors. If they detects traffic from desktop, these work as normal app and show dating list of girl friends and boy friends.

According to experts, this method can be used to spread malware or advertse some apps by redirecting users to those apps.
