World IT Forum 1st time in India, starts from Tuesday

World IT Forum 1st time in India, starts from Tuesday

This is the first time when World IT Forum (WITFOR) will be held in India. 30 countries are expected. IT and Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal will inaugurate the event on Tuesday.

“WITFOR is an important international event that places the host country on an international platform to showcase its achievements. So far, India has hosted only regional ICT and e-Governance international events,” Department of Electronics and IT said in a statement.

“The Forum will bring together senior bureaucrats and technologists from South Korea, Canada, Nigeria, Kenya, Malaysia, Estonia, Moldova and Secretaries to the Government of India, both from the Centre and states,” it added.

The event is being seen as a global platform for policy makers and industry in India to learn from other countries but as an avenues for further cooperation and business development, it again added.
