Sony Xperia SolaSony has announced its latest smartphone Sony Xperia Sola which takes touch out of the screen. This new feature is called “floating touch” which allow users to navigate without actually touching the screen.

“Sony’s unique floating touch lets consumers navigate the web by hovering their finger above the screen so it acts like a moving curser, without actually having to touch the screen,” Sony claims, adding that the technology will evolve through “software updates and engagement with developers.”

The smartphone is powered by 1GHz STE U8500 Dual Core Processor and runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Smartphone is expected to get Android 4.0 update in this summer.

Sony Xperia Sola has a 3.7-inch (854 x 480 pixels) Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine. The device features a 5 megapixels auto-focus camera with flash and 720p HD video recording. Other features includes 3G, Wi-Fi, DLNA, Bluetooth, NFC, aGPS, FM radio with RDS, 3.5 mm audio jack.

It comes with 8 GB internal on-board storage which can be expanded up-to 32 GB via microSD card.
