HTC to shut down cloud services, asks users to download stored data

HTC sent an email to all HTC Sense customers saying that their cloud service like Contacts, messages, Footprints and call history will be shut down and made offline. But company says this as a renovation of all the services to improve.

EMail says,

Click the ‘Download’ button in the Account Overview section
A .zip file containing your data will download to your computer for easy viewing
If you would like phone location or backup services for your device, please visit Google Play (formerly Android Market) and download an application that best meets your needs.

If you need additional assistance, please contact HTC Customer Service.

We apologize for any inconvenience. You’ll be among the first to know when the new and improved services are ready.

All the customers using these services can download data in  zip file until April 30. After this date, all the data will be deleted from the server. Company also wrote some steps to download data from the server. But HTC is saying it only a renovation. After the renovation, they will again ask users to upload data.

Few days back HTC also announced the deep integration with DropBox. It may be due to that it had planned to close cloud services. But what about older device which do not have Dropbox integration.

Company is planning somethings which it has not announced yet. HTC must provide some more information about this move.
