Google updated blogger with some more powerful features which allow users to change SEO settings for their blogs. All those bloggers who have not switched to WordPress now have some WordPress-like features in blogger.

“Ensuring that your blog, posts, and images are accurately indexed so they appear correctly in search results is valuable. Today we introduced a suite of new features that enable you to more effectively customize your search preferences,” Bruce Polderman, a product manager at Google, wrote.

These new features can be found under the “Search preferences” in the “Settings.” Users can edit the Description of the blog. They can set the custom error page and custom redirects. Now users can also define custom robots.txt file.

There is one more important change in the links while adding the links to the blog posts. Now users can add the “rel=nofollow” link attribute in the tool. Blogger has added a check box to set this attribute to the links.

Some new features are easy to understand but users need to take care while adding the robot.txt file. Blogger also warned users while making these changes.

There are many users who switched to WordPress from Blogger just because Blogger does not have SEO features and do not give controls on these things. So this is a nice move by Blogger which will surely stop users to migrate on WordPress.
