BlackBerry smartphones get price cut by 26% in India

Research In Motion has decided to slash prices of BlackBerry smartphones in India by 26 percent.

RIM’s India managing director Sunil Dutt announced, “RIM as a brand has moved from just an enterprise device to as a more consumer device. Be it our services or the product, we have seen a strong uptake by the youth and therefore, to get the devices into more hands, we are cutting the prices.”

Now BlackBerry Curve 8520 is available ony for Rs 8,999 from its older price of Rs 10,990. BlackBerry Curve 9360 price has been reduced to Rs 18,990 from older price Rs 20,990. BlackBerry Curve 9380 is available for Rs 16,990 from the older price of Rs 19,990. BlackBerry Torch costs only Rs 21,990 from its older price Rs 29,990.

This move has been taken to attract some new customers in Indian Market. Currently, Nokia and Samsung are ruling in the smartphones segment. Nokia shares 38% market share while Samsung holds 28 % share.
