Apple has slashed the price of its older iPad 2 in India. In India, the 16 GB base model of the iPad 2 is now available only for Rs 24,500, down from Rs 29,500 earlier. This base model only works on wi-fi. This iPad wasThis was announced with the launch of the third generation iPad 4G LTE.

“iPad 2 is now offered at a more affordable price of Rs 24,500, inclusive of VAT for the 16GB wi-fi model (Rs 23,333 ex-VAT) and just Rs 32,900, inclusive of VAT for the 16 GB wi-fi + 3G model (Rs 31,333 ex-VAT),” Apple India said in a press release on Thursday.

In San Francisco, Tim Cook launched the new iPad which will hit the store on the March 16. This new iPad costs $629 for 16GB modle in US without including carrier costs.
