Delhi High Court warned Search giant Google and Social networking website Facebook to remove obscene content from the website as soon as possible.  If they fail to check and remove objectionable material from their web pages, they will be blocked in India as they are already blocked in China.

Justice Suresh Kait said,”Like China, we will block all such websites.” He said that both companies should develop the mechanism to keep and check the material being posted on their web pages.

In the court, Former Additional Solicitor General Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Google India, said,”No human interference is possible, and moreover, it can’t be feasible to check such incidents. Billions of people across the globe, post their articles on the website. Yes, they may be defamatory, obscene but cannot be checked.”

He also added that Google India is only the working branch of US based Company. “The US-based Google Inc is the service provider and not me (Google India) and hence, we are not liable for the action of my holding company. Moreover, it is criminal case where a vicarious liability can be fastened on a company which has no role, whatsoever, in the alleged offence,” he added.

Delhi HIgh Court is not going to goive any kind of relief to both internet comapines as it refused to listen any argument. But These 2 websites are the most visited website and are the part of our daily life. It will be interesting to see how india will block these website.
