YouTube’s major redesign, Homepage goes social

Now the New design of YouTube is available to everyone. This is the biggest redesign in the history. The main goal of this redesign is to personalized video discovery and viewing, with a notable emphasis on social features.

“The future of the YouTube experience has channels at the center of it,” says Margaret Stewart, director of User Experience at YouTube’s headquarters in San Bruno, Calif. “It’s a container for all the world’s video, and it needs to be the best home for that.”

the new homepage looks like facebook or Google+ with three coloumn design with streams in the middle. At top left, you will see the profile picture and your social networking accounts. You’ll see is an “add channels” button in the top left-hand corner of the page. Under that you’ll find your top 10 favorite channels, which you can “pin” to the top of the page.

YouTube has also added some template for channel pages. these are:
  1. The Blogger template: A featured video, a reverse chronological list of videos from 1 playlist of your choosing, playlists, and other Channels.
  2. The Creator template: A featured video, featured playlists, and other Channels.
  3. The Network template: A featured video and featured Channels
  4. The Everything template: A featured video, featured playlists, and featured Channels
