Opera software, known for web browser has made an announcement to acquire mobile application platform Handster which is onw of the leading app store for android. Handster plateform supports Android, Java, Symbian, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry, web and tablet applications. Company also had good deals with some largest mobile manufacturers for white label solutions.
Terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed. Handster CEO Victor Shaburov will join the Opera Mobile Consumer and Publisher team in San Mateo.
“Opera is evolving from being a browser company into a fully integrated mobile services company and this acquisition is an important step in that direction,” Opera CEO Lars Boilesen explains . “Handster will enable us to strengthen our mobile store offerings to consumers, mobile operators and handset manufacturers.”
This deal of Opera will boost Opera’s mobile content offerings. which already have Opera Mobile store which was released in March
