Meg Whitman officially named for CEO of HP

HP got new Chief executive office and this time a woman. Leo Apotheker, president and CEO of HP has been replaced by Meg Whitman. She is the former CEO of popular eCommerce website eBay. Meg Whitman joined the HP’s board of directors in January 2011. She also sits on the boards of Procter & Gamble, Zipcar and Teach for America.
Whitman stated, “I am honored and excited to lead HP. I believe HP matters – it matters to Silicon Valley, California, the country and the world.”

Leo Apotheker was working as the CEO of HP since September 30, 2010. Under the leadership of Leo Apotheker, HP’s stock lost nearly half of its value. But this move was unexpected.

The company also announced that Ray Lane is moving from a non-executive chairman role to executive chairman of HP’s board of directors.

It will be interesting to see how Meg Whitman will run the company. As a CEO of eBay, she helped company to grow and expand. Similar kind of guidelines and moves are needed for HP too.
