Intex Aqua Ace is the mid-range phone which offers high-end specifications. It comes with 3GB of RAM for better multi-tasking and a premium design. Main USP of this phone is 3G RAM and dual 4G. I used this phone as my primary device and got to know so many things about this phone. Intex Aqua Ace Review
Design
Design of this phone is good and it looks premium. Back side of the device is glassy and looks beautiful. I received the black color unit of the device for the review and it looks better than the white color unit of the device. At the back side, there is the Intex branding. Back cover is non-removable. It also has a rim around edges which looks like metal but in actual it is polished plastic.
It has speakers at the below side which is a good placing. So, sound is loud and clear. You will enjoy gaming and videos without even using earphones. It has microUSB port and 3.5 mm audio jack at the top side of the device. At the right side, it has slot for microSD card, power button and volume rocker keys. At the left side, it has slot for SIM cards.
It is also very light in weight. It weighs just 121 grams. But design is slippery, so you will not feel much comfortable. Company also offers a free flip-cover to use with this device.
Display
It has 5 inch HD Super AMOLED which is good. Viewing angles are good and color reproductions on the display is also good. But sun light visibility is poor. So, you cannot properly use the device in the outdoor conditions where direct sunlight is coming on the display.
I was able to play 720p videos on this device but that can be found on all the devices in this price range. 1080p videos were causing issues while playing on this device. You cannot expect good full HD playback experience on this device.
Processor, RAM and Storage
Intex has used modern quad-core, 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6735 processor in this device which is backed by Mali-T720 MP2 GPU. Most advertised feature of this phone is 3GB of RAM, which is not so common in this price range. Overall performance of this device is good. You will enjoy good multi-tasking on this device.
Gaming performance is also very good. You will be able to enjoy high-end games on this device without any issue. Yes, it heats up while long gaming but that is pretty common and heat level was bearable. You cannot call it a heating issue of the device. But I also found it heating in my pocket once for no reason, only camera app was open. It was pretty strange.
Benchmarking results of this phone are pretty decent.
It comes with 16GB of internal storage from which around 10.5 GB is available for users. It supports microSD card to expand storage up to 128GB. There’s also USB-OTG support if you need more data access on the device.
SAR rating of Intex Aqua Ace is 1.070W/kg which is a little higher than average.
Camera
Camera boasts to be good on papers with high megapixels but performance was not up to the mark. It has 13 megapixels rear camera with LED flash and a 5 megapixels front camera. Camera also comes with few modes for the photography. But trust me, this is the thing which disappointed. 13 megapixels rear camera could perform better. Low light photos or indoor photos are of average quality.
Even front camera is also not up to the mark in good lighting conditions. Photos taken with the help of flash were just fine. We have devices with better camera performance in this price range. If you want a good camera phone, this phone is not for you. I have attached the camera sample at the end of this post. Have a look to confirm camera performance.
While recording videos for long time, the temperature of the device goes up. It was unusually and go higher depending on room condition you are.
Software
It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. Intex has also loaded few default apps in this device which are Auto Call Record, Intex Services, Tethering & Portable Hotspot. All other apps are the same which comes in stock android.
Connectivity and Battery
This phone supports 4G connectivity on both SIM card slots. This is the advantage of this phone. Other connectivity features are Wi-Fi 802.11, b/g/n, Bluetooth, Mobile Hotspot, microUSB and A-GPS.
It is packed with 2300 mAh battery which seems to be smaller for the device but surprisingly it performs good. I found around 10 hours of video playback and around a whole day of battery life in mixed usage. I was surprised because expectation was not much due to small capacity.
Sound quality
Sound quality on speakers is good but you will not enjoy music on the speakers. Even on phone calls, you will feel good sound. Bundled speakers are good for phone calls but you should not expect good music experience.
Verdict:
The Intex Aqua Ace offers good hardware specifications in this price-range. 3GB RAM offers good multi-tasking. Gaming performance, overall performance and battery performance are also good. But camera performance is average and it could be better.
