Google is adding a new fashion-focused capability to Circle to Search as part of the June Android Drop. The feature can now identify an entire outfit from an image and help users find individual clothing items without leaving the app they are currently using.
The upgrade builds on Circle to Search, a feature Google first introduced in early 2024. It allows users to search anything visible on their screen by simply circling, highlighting, or tapping an object. Since launch, Google has steadily expanded its capabilities with AI-powered summaries, gaming assistance, music identification, AI-Generated Images Detection, and more advanced visual search tools.
With the latest update, Circle to Search is becoming more useful for shopping and fashion discovery.
Instead of identifying a single item, users can now circle an outfit and receive results for multiple pieces of clothing at once. This includes tops, pants, shoes, jackets, accessories, and other visible items that make up the look.
For example, if you spot an outfit you like while scrolling through Instagram, watching a YouTube video, browsing a website, or viewing a photo, Circle to Search can help identify the individual pieces and show similar products available online.
Google highlighted the feature using celebrity entrepreneur Paris Hilton, showing how users can search an entire look without switching between apps or taking screenshots.
Previously, users often needed to select individual items one at a time to find matching products. The new system can analyze a complete outfit and break it down into multiple searchable components, making the process much faster.
The feature is powered by Google’s growing investment in AI-driven visual search technology. Over the past several years, the company has combined Google Lens, Shopping Graph, and Gemini-powered AI tools to better understand objects, products, and visual content.
The announcement also arrives alongside another fashion-related feature revealed in the June Android Drop. Google Photos is getting a new AI-powered digital wardrobe that can organize clothing items from a user’s photo library and help with outfit planning. Together, the two features show Google’s increasing focus on fashion discovery and shopping experiences across Android.
Google says the upgraded Circle to Search experience is available on Android 14 and newer devices that already support Circle to Search.
