Microsoft packed this year’s Xbox Games Showcase with game reveals, release dates, new expansions, and a few surprises. The event featured several first-party Xbox games, major third-party announcements, and updates for some of gaming’s biggest franchises.
Here is a look at the biggest announcements from the show.
Gears of War: E-Day Launches This October
Xbox kicked off the showcase with a lengthy gameplay presentation of Gears of War: E-Day. The trailer showed Marcus Fenix fighting against the Locust during Emergence Day, the event that started the war. Players also got a look at new enemies, brutal executions, and some impressive Unreal Engine 5 visuals.

Fable Finally Gets a Release Date
Playground Games shared a new trailer for Fable and confirmed that the game will launch on February 23, 2027. The latest trailer focused more on the story and showed a darker side of Albion than previous gameplay reveals.
Halo Returns With New Missions
Halo: Campaign Evolved is launching on July 28, 2026. The remake brings back the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign and adds a new three-mission story called Operation: METEORITE. The new missions feature Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson and take place before the events of the first game.
A New Plague Tale Is Coming
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy was one of the biggest third-party reveals of the event. The trailer showed new environments, action sequences, and the dark atmosphere that fans of the series will instantly recognize.
The game launches on August 27, 2026.
Persona Fans Had a Big Night
ATLUS announced Persona 4 Revival, a remake of Persona 4, with a release date of February 18, 2027.
The company also officially revealed Persona 6. The teaser did not show much, but the announcement alone was enough to get fans excited. No release date has been announced yet.
State of Decay 3 Returns
After a long wait, State of Decay 3 returned with a new trailer. The game continues to focus on zombie survival, base building, and cooperative gameplay. It is currently planned for release in 2027.
Metro 2039 Gets a New Look
4A Games showed a new trailer for METRO 2039. The game continues the franchise’s signature mix of survival, stealth, and horror. It is scheduled to launch in February 2027 and has already crossed one million wishlists since its reveal earlier this year.
Wo Long 2 and Senua Announced
Team Ninja officially announced Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember.
The sequel brings back the fast-paced combat that made the original popular and is planned for early 2027.
Xbox also revealed Senua, a new game set in the Hellblade universe. It follows a Celtic warrior trapped between life and death and is expected to launch in 2027.
Doom: The Dark Ages Gets Story DLC
Bethesda announced Doom: The Dark Ages – Revelations.
The expansion adds new missions, enemies, weapons, and story content. It launches on July 7, 2026.
Classic Franchises Make a Comeback
SEGA revived Crazy Taxi with the announcement of Crazy Taxi: World Tour.
Konami also revealed Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, a new entry in the long-running action series.
Meanwhile, Spyro is returning in Spyro: A Realm Beyond.
All three games are scheduled for release in 2027, except Castlevania, which launches on October 15, 2026.
Minecraft Dungeons II Is Real
Microsoft finally announced Minecraft Dungeons II. The sequel expands the action RPG formula of the original game and launches on September 29, 2026.
Xbox Celebrates 25 Years
Microsoft also unveiled a special Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection. The limited-edition Xbox Series X features a translucent green design inspired by the original Xbox console. A matching controller will also be available. The collection launches in November 2026.
Updates for Existing Games
Several live-service games also received new content announcements.
Sea of Thieves is getting its Custom Seas update on June 18.
Age of Empires IV: Raiders of the North will add Vikings and Scots later this year.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Return of the Thieves Guild launches on July 8.
Fallout 76: Infestations is available now.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is getting World Update 22.
Where Winds Meet is receiving the Hidden Mountain expansion in July.
Call of Duty Ends the Show
The final announcement was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ. The extraction-based mode is returning with a new setting and launches on October 23, 2026.
Xbox had a strong showcase this year. Between Gears of War: E-Day, Halo: Campaign Evolved, Fable, Persona 6, and METRO 2039, there was no shortage of major announcements. The event also made it clear that Xbox has a busy lineup planned for both 2026 and 2027.
