Samsung has announced a new “Certified Re-Newed” programme in India. With this programme, the company will now sell officially refurbished Galaxy smartphones at lower prices while still offering warranty and after-sales support.
The move is aimed at users who want premium Galaxy smartphones without paying full flagship prices. It also shows Samsung’s growing focus on sustainability and extending the life of smartphones instead of pushing users to upgrade every year.
Samsung plans to offer both flagship and mid-range Galaxy devices that go through an in-house refurbishment process. According to the company, every device is carefully inspected, tested, factory reset, and updated with the latest software before being sold again.
Samsung also says it uses genuine replacement parts during refurbishment. The phones are then packed in new retail boxes and come with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty, similar to a brand-new Galaxy smartphone.
The company has started the programme with several popular models, including the Samsung Galaxy S25, Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy A56 5G, and Samsung Galaxy A36 5G.
Here are the current prices:
- Galaxy S25 (256GB) – Rs. 58,749
- Galaxy S25 Ultra (256GB) – Rs. 97,499
- Galaxy A56 5G (12GB RAM) – Rs. 32,749
- Galaxy A56 5G (8GB RAM) – Rs. 31,499
- Galaxy A36 5G (128GB) – Rs. 23,249
- Galaxy A36 5G (256GB) – Rs. 24,499
Samsung says every Certified Re-Newed device will include accessories usually bundled with new smartphones, including a charging cable, ejector pin, and user manual.
The Certified Re-Newed programme is now live through Samsung India.
Samsung’s move comes at a time when the refurbished smartphone market is growing rapidly in India. Rising flagship prices have pushed many buyers toward pre-owned and refurbished devices. However, trust has always been a major concern in this segment.
This is where Samsung could gain an advantage. Since these devices are refurbished directly by Samsung and backed by an official warranty, many users may feel more confident compared to buying refurbished phones from third-party sellers.
The programme could also help Samsung attract buyers looking for flagship features like premium cameras, better displays, and Galaxy AI experiences at more affordable prices.
It also supports sustainability efforts by reducing electronic waste and extending the usable life of smartphones.
