As scheduled, Micromax has launched its first YU branded smartphone. This smartphone is called as YU Yureka. It features powerful hardware specifications with CyanogenMod OS 11. It has been priced aggressively at Rs. 8,999. This smartphone was launched with tag line “Yu Play God” which signifies the two “pillars” of the brand: customization and services. This smartphone will go up for pre-order on Amazon on Friday and will be available by the second week of the January.
Yu Yureka features a 5.5 inch IPS display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. It is powered by a Octa-Core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (4×1.7GHz + 4×1.0GHz) processor. It runs on CyanogenMod OS 11 based on Android 4.4 (KitKat). We already know that Micromax has exclusive rights to use CyanogenMod OS in India. This smartphone will also receive monthly OTA updates.
Yu Yureka features a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5 megapixel front camera with 71-degree wide viewing angle lens. It is packed with 2 GB RAM, 16 GB internal storage and microSD card to expand storage up to 32 GB. It comes with 4G LTE connectivity. Other connectivity features of the smartphone 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.
