Apple has announced a new Apple TV 4K with an A19 chip, AI-powered Siri, and hands-free voice controls. The new streaming device also brings improved gaming performance, expanded surround sound support, and deeper integration with Apple’s smart home ecosystem.

One of the biggest changes is the addition of Siri AI, which can help users discover content, answer questions while watching videos, and provide information about actors, age ratings, and general trivia. The redesigned interface offers a full-screen discovery mode and a smaller overlay that allows users to ask questions without leaving the current video.

The assistant can also use personal context from an Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone to find content recommendations shared through personal communications. Apple has added three far-field microphones with echo cancellation, allowing users to activate Siri by saying “Siri” or “Hey Siri” without picking up the remote.

The new Apple TV 4K is powered by Apple’s A19 chip. The company claims it delivers up to 50% faster CPU performance and twice the GPU performance compared to the previous model. The chip also includes a dedicated AV1 video decoder, which can help improve streaming efficiency by delivering video at lower bitrates.

The bundled Siri Remote retains its existing design, but gains Find My support with Precision Finding. This allows users to locate a misplaced remote using directional guidance and sound alerts.

Apple has also expanded the device’s home theatre capabilities. The new Apple TV 4K supports a four-speaker surround sound setup using four HomePod mini 2 speakers or four second-generation HomePods arranged in matching front and rear pairs. The system can automatically adjust audio levels and delays based on the room and speaker placement.

The device also works as a smart home hub with support for HomeKit, Matter, Wi-Fi, and Thread. Apple Intelligence can summarise notifications and describe activity captured by HomeKit Secure Video cameras. Users can also view compatible video doorbell feeds in picture-in-picture mode on their TV, with support for two-way audio and remote lock controls.

Other supported features include Apple Fitness+, Apple Arcade, FaceTime through Continuity Camera, and custom iCloud photo screen savers.

Apple has also highlighted privacy protections in the new device. Microphone processing uses Secure Exclaves in the A19 chip to isolate audio inputs from tvOS and third-party apps. Cloud-based Siri AI requests use Apple’s Private Cloud Compute infrastructure, while HomeKit video remains end-to-end encrypted.

The new Apple TV 4K also uses recycled materials in several components. Its circuit boards use 100% recycled gold plating and tin solder, while its internal magnets use 100% recycled rare earth elements. The thermal module includes 80% recycled aluminium, and the remote uses 100% recycled aluminium. The packaging is entirely fibre-based.

The Apple TV 4K is priced at ₹39,900 in India. Pre-orders are open in more than 30 regions, and general availability is scheduled for November 13.
