Samsung Galaxy M47 5G Gets Up to Rs 8,000 Price Hike Just Days After India Launch

Samsung Galaxy M47 5G

Samsung has increased the price of the Galaxy M47 5G in India just days after the smartphone went on sale. The price hike affects all storage variants, with the top-end model now costing as much as Rs 41,999.

The Galaxy M47 5G was launched in India on June 29 and went on sale on July 4. At launch, Samsung priced the smartphone at Rs 25,999 for the 6GB + 128GB variant, Rs 28,999 for the 8GB + 128GB model, and Rs 33,999 for the 8GB + 256GB version. Buyers could also get instant bank discounts and coupons, bringing the effective prices down to Rs 22,999, Rs 25,999, and Rs 30,999, respectively.

However, the phone is now listed at significantly higher prices on Amazon India.

VariantLaunch PriceNew Price
6GB + 128GBRs 25,999Rs 32,999
8GB + 128GBRs 28,999Rs 36,999
8GB + 256GBRs 33,999Rs 41,999

The base variant has become Rs 7,000 more expensive, while the other two variants have received an Rs 8,000 price increase. Compared to the discounted launch prices that many early buyers paid, the difference is nearly Rs 10,000 to Rs 11,000.

The sudden price revision is unusual because it comes less than a week after the smartphone became available for purchase. While smartphone brands have increased prices of older models in recent months due to rising component costs, especially memory chips, such a sharp increase immediately after launch is uncommon.

The industry has been facing a prolonged rise in RAM prices, forcing several smartphone makers to revise prices of existing devices. Brands including Nothing, Vivo, and Realme have already increased prices of some smartphones over the past year as production costs continue to rise.

Even if higher component costs are responsible, increasing the price within days of launch may disappoint potential buyers who were planning to purchase the phone at its announced launch price. Consumers generally expect launch pricing to remain stable for at least some time before any revision.
