Amazon is taking another big step in cloud gaming by bringing games directly to the Prime Video app. Prime members in the US and UK can now play cloud games on compatible Fire TV devices at no additional cost through a new Games tab.
The feature is powered by Amazon Luna, Amazon’s cloud gaming platform. Instead of downloading games or buying a gaming console, users can start playing instantly. They can connect a Bluetooth controller or even use their smartphone as a game controller.
With this update, Prime Video is no longer just a place to watch movies and TV shows. Users can now switch between streaming content and playing games from the same app, making entertainment more convenient.

- Hogwarts Legacy
- EA Sports FC 26
- Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
- Sonic Mania Plus
- Clue
- Dispatch
- Masters of the Universe: Legends Unite
Amazon says it plans to expand the feature to more countries in the future, but it has not announced a launch timeline yet.
Amazon is not the first company to combine video streaming with gaming.
Netflix entered the gaming market in 2021 by offering a growing collection of mobile games to its subscribers. Since then, it has continued investing in gaming and recently launched a dedicated app for children’s games.
Cloud gaming has also seen several different approaches over the years. Google launched Stadia with the goal of replacing gaming consoles, but the service was eventually shut down after struggling to attract enough users. Microsoft continues to grow Xbox Cloud Gaming through Game Pass Ultimate, while NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW allows players to stream games they already own from stores like Steam and Epic Games Store.
Amazon’s strategy is slightly different. Instead of targeting only dedicated gamers, it is using Prime Video to introduce cloud gaming to millions of existing Prime members.
This move suggests Amazon wants Prime Video to become more than just a video streaming platform. By adding games alongside movies, TV shows, and live sports, the company is creating a single destination for entertainment.
The integration could also make it easier for Amazon to connect its TV shows and movies with games. For example, users watching a popular series could later discover a game based on the same franchise without leaving the app. This kind of cross-platform experience could encourage people to spend more time within Amazon’s ecosystem.
Another advantage is accessibility. Many people are interested in gaming but do not own a console or a high-end PC. Cloud gaming removes that barrier by running games on remote servers and streaming them to the user’s device.
Cloud gaming has been around for several years, but it has yet to become a mainstream way to play games. Services like Stadia proved that having the technology alone is not enough. Success depends on offering a strong game library, easy access, and giving users a reason to keep coming back.
Amazon may have a better chance than many of its competitors because Prime Video already has a massive user base. Instead of asking people to sign up for another gaming service, Amazon is putting games inside an app they already use.
