DJI has officially launched the DJI Osmo Mobile 8P globally, including in India. The new smartphone gimbal brings several upgrades focused on remote shooting, smarter subject tracking, and better support for iPhone users.
The Osmo Mobile 8P continues DJI’s compact foldable design but introduces a few notable hardware changes. The gimbal weighs around 386 grams and includes a built-in 215mm extension rod for capturing wider angles and selfies. DJI has also upgraded the built-in tripod with a wider opening design to improve stability on uneven surfaces.
It comes with the new Osmo FrameTap remote control. This detachable magnetic accessory comes with a built-in display that mirrors the smartphone camera view or the feed from DJI’s Multifunctional Module 2. The remote also includes a joystick that lets users control pan, tilt, and zoom functions wirelessly.
DJI says the gimbal can deliver up to 10 hours of battery life under standard usage conditions. It also includes a USB-C port that allows the gimbal to charge a connected smartphone while recording.
The Osmo Mobile 8P uses DJI’s eighth-generation 3-axis stabilization technology to reduce shakes and improve video smoothness. DJI has also upgraded its tracking software with ActiveTrack 8.0. The new version is designed to maintain focus on moving subjects even when obstacles appear or when subjects move quickly in crowded scenes.
When paired with the new Multifunctional Module 2, the gimbal can track not only people and pets but also objects like vehicles and landmarks. The module also includes a built-in fill light with eight adjustable brightness and color temperature levels.
Apple users get an additional advantage with native DockKit support. iPhone users can directly access tracking functions from the default iOS camera app without depending on the DJI Mimo app.
DJI has also added several shooting modes aimed at content creators. The DynamicZoom feature creates cinematic zoom effects automatically. Slow Shutter mode helps capture motion blur and light trails in low-light environments. Action Shot mode improves responsiveness for tracking fast-moving subjects, while Widescreen Mode records videos directly in a 2.35:1 cinematic aspect ratio.
The hardware also supports 360-degree Infinite Spin mode for continuous horizontal rotation while keeping the subject locked in frame. There is also a tilt function for capturing low-angle shots more easily.
The Osmo Mobile 8P appears designed mainly for vloggers, mobile filmmakers, travel creators, and social media users who want smoother smartphone videos without carrying large camera equipment. Features like remote control, native iPhone integration, and advanced object tracking also make it useful for solo creators who record themselves frequently.
DJI is offering the gimbal in three configurations in India.
