Amazon Launches New Fire TV Stick HD in India with Wi-Fi 6 and Xbox Cloud Gaming Support

Amazon has launched the new Amazon Fire TV Stick HD in India. The latest streaming device comes with faster performance, a redesigned compact body, and support for cloud gaming through Xbox.

The company had globally announced the device last month, and it is now officially available for Indian users.

The new Fire TV Stick HD is over 30% faster than the previous generation model. The company says users will notice quicker boot times, smoother navigation, and faster app loading.

The streaming stick supports Full HD 1080p video playback along with HDR10+ support for improved picture quality.

Amazon has also upgraded connectivity on the device. The new Fire TV Stick HD now supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. This should help maintain more stable streaming performance, especially on crowded or slower Wi-Fi networks.

Amazon says the new model is around 30% slimmer compared to other Fire TV Stick models currently available. The compact design also allows the device to stay hidden behind the TV more easily.

Another useful addition is direct USB power support. Users can power the device directly from a TV’s USB port instead of using a separate wall charger. This makes the Fire TV Stick HD more convenient for travel setups and cleaner TV installations.

The device ships with Amazon’s redesigned Fire TV interface. The updated UI includes dedicated sections for movies, TV shows, live TV, and free content to make navigation easier.

The Fire TV Stick HD also supports smart home controls. Users can manage Alexa-compatible devices like smart lights, fans, and air conditioners directly from the TV interface.

Amazon says the device supports access to thousands of streaming apps, including Prime Video, Netflix, JioHotstar, YouTube, and ZEE5.

The included Alexa Voice Remote allows users to search content and control playback using voice commands. Amazon has also integrated support for its updated Fire TV mobile app that lets users manage watchlists and cast content remotely using smartphones.

A major new feature is Xbox cloud gaming support. For the first time, an HD Fire TV Stick model can stream Xbox cloud games directly on a TV without needing a dedicated gaming console.

Users can install the Xbox app and play supported cloud games through Xbox Game Pass. However, this feature requires an active Game Pass subscription and a compatible Bluetooth controller.

The addition of cloud gaming is important because it turns the Fire TV Stick into more than just a streaming device. It also shows how companies are trying to push gaming services beyond traditional consoles and expensive hardware.

The new Amazon Fire TV Stick HD is priced at Rs. 4,999 in India. It is currently available through Amazon India, as well as platforms like Flipkart, Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, and Zepto. Amazon says the device will also reach offline retail stores soon.
