KRAFTON India has changed the name of its upcoming lightweight battle royale game from BGMI Lite to BGMI Air. The game has crossed 10 million pre-registrations on the Google Play Store, building interest ahead of its expected launch in India later this year.

The game was first announced as BGMI Lite back in August. With the new name, KRAFTON aims to bring the Battlegrounds Mobile India experience to more players, especially those using entry-level smartphones or devices with limited storage.

BGMI Air will have an initial download size of around 1GB. This could make it a more practical option for users who cannot install the full BGMI game because of storage limitations. However, KRAFTON has not yet revealed the complete hardware requirements for the upcoming title.

The company has also confirmed that BGMI Air will operate as a separate game. Players who already have a BGMI account will not need to transfer their progress or change their existing account to play BGMI Air. Both games will remain separate.

Pre-registrations opened on the Google Play Store for Android users on August 25, 2026. Crossing the 10 million mark suggests that the upcoming game has attracted considerable attention even before its release.

KRAFTON India is also preparing an open beta to test the game before its wider launch. The company plans to use player feedback to improve network performance and gameplay across different devices. This will be particularly important for a game designed to run on a wider range of smartphones.

The company has not announced a confirmed launch date for BGMI Air. Details about the open beta, supported devices, and other game features are also awaited. Players can follow the game’s official channels for further updates.
