Adobe is taking another big step in its AI journey by bringing its creative ecosystem directly into ChatGPT. The company has launched a new Adobe plugin that gives users access to more than 70 creative and productivity tools. So, users can edit images, work with PDFs, create videos, and handle several other tasks without leaving the chat window.
The move shows how quickly AI assistants are evolving. ChatGPT is no longer just a place to ask questions or generate text. It is gradually becoming a workspace where users can create, edit, and manage projects using professional software.
The new Adobe plugin connects ChatGPT with many of the company’s popular applications, including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Lightroom, Acrobat, InDesign, Adobe Express, and Firefly. Instead of opening individual apps, users can simply describe what they want in natural language and let ChatGPT handle the workflow through Adobe’s tools.
For example, a user could ask ChatGPT to remove an object’s background, resize an image for Instagram, convert a document into a PDF, generate a presentation graphic, or prepare assets for a marketing campaign. Tasks that normally require switching between multiple applications can now begin from a single conversation.
Adobe has already experimented with ChatGPT integrations in the past, but this is by far its biggest rollout. Rather than offering access to a handful of apps, the company is now bringing almost its entire creative portfolio into one plugin.
Another interesting part is that users do not need a Creative Cloud subscription just to use the plugin. However, signing into an Adobe account unlocks additional features such as Creative Cloud file access, project syncing, and AI-powered image generation through Adobe Firefly.
Adobe has made it clear that this integration is designed to improve workflows instead of replacing its desktop applications. Professional creators will still need the full versions of Photoshop, Premiere Pro, or Illustrator for advanced editing. The plugin simply makes it faster to start projects, automate repetitive work, and complete simple tasks without interrupting the creative process.
This news also highlights a bigger shift in the software industry. Instead of developing standalone AI chatbots, software companies are now bringing their products into platforms that millions of people already use every day. For Adobe, that platform is ChatGPT. I have already explained how platform businesses are growing in every sector.
ChatGPT already has a massive user base, and integrating Adobe’s services directly into it gives the company immediate access to creators, students, marketers, developers, and businesses.
