HP has announced two new laptops, OmniBook Ultra 16 and OmniBook X 14, powered by NVIDIA’s newly unveiled RTX Spark platform. These laptops are designed to bring powerful AI capabilities, advanced content creation tools, and workstation-level performance to thin and lightweight laptops.
The company is calling them the world’s thinnest RTX Spark laptops. It shows the growing trend where laptop makers are trying to combine desktop-class performance with the portability of an ultrabook.
HP says the OmniBook Ultra 16 and OmniBook X 14 are designed as “personal AI computers” capable of running advanced AI workloads locally instead of relying entirely on cloud services. According to the company, users will be able to run AI agents that can automate tasks, manage workflows, analyze data, and perform complex operations directly on the device.
At the heart of both laptops is NVIDIA’s RTX Spark platform. The chip combines a 20-core Arm-based CPU with Blackwell RTX graphics featuring up to 6,144 CUDA cores and fifth-generation Tensor Cores. NVIDIA claims RTX Spark can deliver up to 1 petaflop of AI performance while maintaining the power efficiency required for thin laptops.
HP says NVIDIA and Microsoft worked closely together to optimize RTX Spark for Windows 11.
It supports up to 128GB of unified memory. Similar to Apple’s M-series architecture, unified memory allows the CPU, GPU, and AI engines to share the same memory pool. This can improve performance in AI workloads, video editing, and 3D rendering.
HP says the laptops can run AI models with up to 120 billion parameters locally and even handle 12K video editing without needing to offload tasks to the cloud. If these claims hold up in real-world use, the OmniBook series could become attractive options for creators, developers, and AI professionals.
NVIDIA is also introducing new security features through OpenShell, which aims to allow AI agents to run with stronger security protections.
Despite the powerful hardware, HP is promising all-day battery life.
The HP OmniBook Ultra 16 and OmniBook X 14 are expected to launch later this year. More information about configurations and pricing should be announced closer to availability.
