PlayStation Portal Adds Cloud Streaming for PS5 Games

PlayStation Portal Adds Cloud Streaming

Sony has officially launched Cloud Streaming support for PlayStation Portal to give PlayStation Plus Premium members the ability to stream PS5 games directly from the cloud. The update, which rolled out on November 5 (PT), is one of the biggest updates to the device since its debut in 2023. It introduces a redesigned interface, new features, and support for streaming digital PS5 titles from your own library.

PlayStation Portal was originally designed as a Remote Play device. It lets users stream games from their PS5 console over Wi-Fi. Now, with cloud streaming officially available, it can directly stream PS5 games without needing to connect to the console.

This means you can play your favorite PS5 titles even when your console is off or being used by someone else. Sony confirmed that thousands of PS5 games support this feature, including major releases such as Astro Bot, Borderlands 4, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Fortnite, Ghost of Yōtei, Grand Theft Auto V, and Resident Evil 4.

Additionally, hundreds of games from the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Classics Catalog, such as Cyberpunk 2077, God of War Ragnarök, Hogwarts Legacy, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, and Sword of the Sea, can also be streamed directly from the cloud.

For Cloud Streaming, Sony has also added in-game store access. So, players can make in-game purchases. It also adds features like adjustable text size and a screen reader for better accessibility. Players can also receive and accept multiplayer invites while streaming, which makes online play more seamless.

The PlayStation Portal’s home screen has received a complete redesign. It introduces three main tabs — Remote Play, Cloud Streaming, and Search.

This cleaner, more intuitive interface makes it easier for players to switch between their console library and the cloud-based experience.

The latest update also improves the overall gameplay experience with several new features designed for both Remote Play and Cloud Streaming.

This update pushes cloud-first future, where players can enjoy console-quality gaming anywhere with a stable internet connection.. Initially PlayStation Portal was just a niche accessory for Remote Play. But, it has evolved into a more capable standalone device that extends the PS5 experience. This move also makes PlayStation Portal more useful for gamers.
