Xiaomi today launched its latest flagship foldable phone MIX Fold 4 in China. It is thinner and lighter. The phone is good enough to compete directly against Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 and Honor Magic V3.
MIX Fold 4 comes with a large 7.98-inch 2K+ LTPO display with up to 3000 nits peak. The display supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. It also has a 120Hz refresh rate, 2160Hz PWM Dimming, and UTG glass protection. It also has an external 6.56-inch display with Full HD+ 120Hz LTPO display with up to 3000 nits peak brightness. It also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. The external display has Xiaomi Shield Glass protection.
Xiaomi uses its proprietary hinge that uses high-strength materials with a wear-resistant carbon ceramic steel transmission mechanism. The hinge volume has been reduced by 34% compared to the predecessor. The phone weighs just 226 grams and is 4.59mm thick when unfolded and 9.47 mm in a folded state.
This is also the first Xiaomi foldable phone that comes with an IPX8 rating. The phone can survive under 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes.
The foldable phone packs a 3.3GHz Octa Core Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 4nm processor and Adreno 750 GPU. It comes in three models 12GB+256GB, 16GB+512GB, and 16GB+1TB. For fast performance, the phone uses LPPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Xiaomi has also added a 3D cooling system with a large-area cooling area.
The rear camera setup of Mix Fold 4 includes 50 megapixels primary camera with a Light Fusion 800 sensor, f/1.7 aperture, and OIS. It also has 12 megapxiels 120° ultra-wide angle camera, 50 megapixels OmniVision OV60A40 2x telephoto camera, and 10 megapixels Samsung S5K3K1 5x periscope telephoto camera with OIS. The phone can record 8K videos. For selfies, the phone has 20 megapxiels camera in both inner and outer displays.
Mix Fold 4 features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and an Infrared sensor. It also has dual speakers and supports Dolby Atmos.
Connectivity options are 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E 802.11 ax, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, QZSS, NavIC, USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1, USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1, and NFC. It also supports two-way satellite communication.
The phone packs a 5100mAh silicon-carbon battery with 67W fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
The phone starts at 8999 yuan for the 12GB + 256GB model. The 16GB+512GB model costs 9999 yuan and the top-end 16GB+1TB version costs 10999 yuan. Mix Fold 4 is now available to order and will go on sale in China starting from July 23rd.
