Samsung Galaxy Watches Now Monitor Blood Pressure and ECG in India

Samsung has introduced Blood Pressure (BP) and Electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring support for its Galaxy Watch4, Watch5, and Watch6 series in India. This development follows the reception of regulatory clearances and certifications from India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation. This move also highlights Samsung’s commitment to health and wellness technology.

To measure blood pressure and ECG using Samsung Galaxy Watches, users need to have the Samsung Health Monitor app installed on their devices. The app is available for Galaxy smartphones with Android 9.0 and later. You also need to read and agree to the terms and conditions, Privacy Policy, and set your profile. Follow on-screen set-up instructions. It is worth noting that it also requires users to calibrate according to directions from the app.

To measure blood pressure using Samsung Galaxy Watches, users should sit on a comfortable chair with back support, uncrossed legs, and feet flat on the ground is recommended. Rest hands and forearms on a table for at least 5 minutes before starting the measurement. During the measurement, staying still, avoiding talking, and breathing normally is essential.

To measure ECG with Samsung Galaxy Watches, Open the Samsung Health Monitor app and ensure Galaxy Watch is snug on their wrists. While resting forearms comfortably on a table, users should lightly rest a fingertip on the Galaxy Watch’s top button for 30 seconds. During this time, users should remain still and silent. After completion, ECG results will appear on the watch. Users can scroll to view their ECG results and tap ‘Add’ if experiencing symptoms. Selecting symptoms and tapping ‘Save’ will include them in the ECG report. Tapping ‘Done’ allows users to review their ECG report in the ECG Monitor app on their paired Galaxy smartphones, with Bluetooth pairing being a requirement.
