Moto G Play (2024)

Motorola has announced its budget smartphone Moto G Play (2024). It will be available in the US starting February 8 for just $149.99. Canadian consumers will get it earlier as the phone will hit the stores on January 26. Unfortunately, the company didn’t confirm the price for Canada.

Moto G Play (2024) features a 6.5-inch HD+ IPS LCD touchscreen display with 720×1600 pixels resolution and 90 Hz refresh rate. It also has Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection to protect the display from scratches.

The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680 mobile platform, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of expandable storage. It also has a microSD card slot to expand storage up to 1TB. The phone runs Android 13 out of the box. Unfortunately, Motorola didn’t talk about software updates.

The smartphone has 50 megapixels rear camera and an 8 megapixels front-facing camera for selfies.

Moto G Play (2024) also has dual speakers and Dolby Atmos audio support. Motorola has also protected the phone with ThinkShield for Mobile. It also features Moto Unplugged and Moto Secure features.

Connectivity options are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and USB Type-C. There is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric unlock. It packs a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 15W wired charging. Consumers will also have to purchase Motorola’s TurboPower 20W charger separately to enjoy the fast charging.

Moto G Play (2024) is IP52-rated to offer splash resistance. I have already explained IP ratings in one of our previous articles. You need to read it to understand the meanings of different IP ratings.
