It has been a week since the Indian government banned PUBG Mobile along with 117 other Chinese apps in India. Now PUBG Corporation, the South Korean gaming company, has released an official statement confirming it is taking over the full publishing rights of PUBG Mobile in India.
PUBG Corp no longer authorizes PUBG Mobile franchises to Tencent games in India. With this move, the company wants to remove China tag from PUBG Mobile.
“In light of recent developments, PUBG Corporation has made the decision to no longer authorize the PUBG MOBILE franchise to Tencent Games in India. Moving forward, PUBG Corporation will take on all publishing responsibilities within the country,” said PUBG Corporation in an official statement.
It is wroth noting that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is an intellectual property owned and developed by PUBG Corporation. It works on PUBG on multiple platforms but partnered with Tencent games to release PUBG mobile. In some select territories, PUBG Corporation itself manages PUBG MOBILE.
The company also hopes to work with the Indian government to find a solution and get the game back in the country. It is committed to follow Indian laws and regulations.
Now when PUBG Corp has taken the matter on its hands, we can expect the come back of PUBG Mobile in India soon. Although it won’t easy but there’s hope.
