Microsoft’s India store hacked, customers password revealed

A hackers group from China called Evil Shadow Team, hacked the Microsoft India Store website (www.microsoftstore.co.in) on Sunday night. They got all the username and passwords of the persons who had used the website for buying Micrsoft’s products from the websites. The strange thing about the leaked data was that all the passwords were stored in the plain text. We can not expect this from Microsoft.

This was really a shocking because the website belongs to the IT giant Microsoft. This website is operated by Quasar Media which is as Indian company that has been appointed by Microsoft to maintain and operate the online store. After some time, Company took the website offline.

Hacker upload his deface page at location http://www.microsoftstore.co.in/evil.html . ”Members of Evil Shadow Team, posted a message on the Microsoft website saying “unsafe system will be baptized”.

Microsoft India has confirmed the attack, and sent out precautionary emails to members. I also advice all the users who have account in the website to change the password. If you use the same username and password on other websites, you must change all the passwords too.
