Rockstar Games has announced that Red Dead Redemption will arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and mobile devices via Netflix on December 2. The new release includes the original story and its zombie-themed expansion, Undead Nightmare, both featuring enhanced visuals and performance.
Players who already own the game digitally on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, or backward-compatible Xbox One will receive a free upgrade to the new version. The PlayStation 5 version will also be available through the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog from launch day.
Originally released in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Red Dead Redemption tells the story of John Marston, a former outlaw trying to leave his violent past behind. The re-release will feature the full single-player campaign and all bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition, including the fan-favorite Undead Nightmare mode.
The new versions promise a major technical boost. Players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S can expect smoother gameplay at 60 frames per second, HDR, and resolutions up to 4K. The Switch 2 version will also support DLSS, HDR, and mouse controls, offering the same fluid frame rate.
For the first time, Red Dead Redemption will also be available on iOS and Android through Netflix Games. Subscribers can download and play the full game as part of their membership, with mobile-optimized controls designed for touchscreens.
