India’s SaaS giant Zoho, known recently for its social messaging app Arattai, has taken a major step into the fintech space. The company launched a new suite of point-of-sale (POS) devices, including an all-in-one POS device, a smart POS device, and a static QR with soundbox.

Zoho co-founder Sridhar Vembu announced the launches on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the company’s collaboration with NPCI Bharat BillPay Ltd (NBBL), a subsidiary of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). The partnership is designed to tackle real business challenges and bolster India’s digital payments infrastructure.

Alongside the POS devices, Zoho also unveiled a suite of payment solutions during the ongoing Global Fintech Fest 2025 in Mumbai. These include:

  • Payout capabilities – Businesses using Zoho Payroll can now automate salary disbursements, track payments, and transfer funds reliably.
  • Virtual accounts – For easier collections and reconciliation.
  • Marketplace settlements – Simplifying payments for businesses operating in marketplaces.

According to Zoho, the payout feature allows businesses to make salary payments from any bank account while automating processes through Zoho Payroll.

Zoho officially entered the payments space after receiving its payment aggregator license in February last year. Since then, the company has integrated Zoho Payments with its finance and operations apps, including Zoho Books, Zoho Invoice, and Zoho Billing, helping businesses streamline their payment processes.

In addition to hardware, Zoho is working to integrate Zoho Pay with its messaging app Arattai. This will allow users to make payments directly through the app, bringing Zoho closer to competing with WhatsApp Pay.

Zoho’s Arattai recently saw a significant surge in downloads for being a made-in-India WhatsApp alternative. The company also recently launched a sub-brand called Vani, which provides AI-powered visual workplace collaboration tools. In July, Zoho introduced a suite of AI products and its large language model, which enables businesses to create custom AI agents and automate workflows. It is also important to note that Zoho acquired Asimov Robotics earlier this year to boost its R&D capabilities in robotics.
