WhatsApp is testing a message scheduling feature that will let users send messages at a chosen date and time. The feature has appeared in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.8.11 and is currently available to some beta testers.

Message scheduling has been one of the most requested features on WhatsApp. It could be useful for sending birthday wishes, setting reminders, or managing work messages without having to send them manually at the right time. Telegram has offered a similar feature since 2019.

According to WaBetaInfo, users can schedule a message by tapping and holding the send button. A dialog will then appear, allowing them to choose the date and time for delivery. WhatsApp is also testing a dedicated section where users can manage scheduled messages before they are sent.

The feature will support text messages, links, photos, and videos. Users will also be able to schedule messages in group chats. Scheduled messages can be set for as little as 10 minutes ahead or up to two weeks in advance.

WhatsApp will send scheduled messages at the selected time even if the sender’s phone is offline. The messages will also retain end-to-end encryption, according to the report.

The feature could make WhatsApp more useful for people who rely on it for work and business communication. It would also help users send messages at an appropriate time without having to remember to do it manually.

The message scheduling feature is currently available to a limited number of Android beta testers. WhatsApp is expected to expand testing to more users in the coming weeks.
